The Thrive Solar LED Light Assembly Unit concept involves creation of livelihood opportunity for SHG women groups and Rural Entrepreneurs in Assembly and Marketing of Solar LED LIghts. As per the program, Thrive Solar provides disassembled kits (consisting of components of the LED lights) and skill development training to the potential assemblers who will assemble and sell the lights in their local area for a living.
In case of the Divyang Solar LED Light Assembly Unit, the District Collector of Medak, Shri Ronald Ross who was considering setting up of livelihood generating projects in Sangareddy for the differently abled, came across the concept promoted by Thrive Solar and approached us with his idea. Thrive Solar provided the required training to 14 divyangs who were selected to participate in the program at NIRD&PR, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. The District Administration of Medak allocated place to the divyangs to setup the center and in no time the unit was commissioned and fully operational.
Divyangs who have received training from Thrive Solar will make Solar Mini Lights using kits provided by Thrive Solar and sell them in the local market to make a living. Thrive Solar, the District Administration, Medak and One Child One Light foundation will provide the required assistance and hand-holding support till the center is self-sufficient. The center is fully managed by the divyangs who are forming a Divyang Solar Society to manage the project.
